POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all manufacturing engineering and maintenance activities supporting stamping and assembly operations at the Maumee facility. This role provides technical leadership for process development, press commissioning, new program launches, automation, and continuous improvement while ensuring safe, capable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in supporting coil-fed and blank-fed stamping operations, transfer press commissioning, equipment reliability and uptime, and integration of stamped components into downstream assembly processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and mentors a team of manufacturing engineers, automation engineers, maintenance team, and technical staff supporting stamping and assembly operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop manufacturing and process engineering staff, including performance management and resource planning.
- Oversee development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to support production goals and resolve technical issues.
- Support new product launches, engineering changes, and capital projects from concept through production.
- Ensure engineering compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, scrap reduction, and process capability
- Review and approve engineering documentation, including process flows, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard work.
- Supports and consults on projects involving the design, installation, and optimization of manufacturing systems, including stamping presses, assembly processes, and automation (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA).
- Ensures manufacturing processes meet all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including customer and industry standards.
- Utilizes KPIs to drive continuous improvement in efficiency, uptime, quality, and throughput using lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborates with production, maintenance, and toolroom teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues across stamping and assembly operations.
- Manages budgets, timelines, and resources for capital equipment, tooling, and automation projects from concept through production readiness.
- Ensures all manufacturing systems, tooling, and equipment are maintained and upgraded in accordance with lifecycle and asset management plans.
- Develop, drive and support corporate and department activities towards achieving customer awards and Quality registrations (ex. IATF, ISO 14001,etc.).
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.
- Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope / position. Examples include but not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non-compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.

ISO / ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the resources needed for the environmental management system are available.
- Communicate the importance of effective environmental management and of conforming to the environmental management system requirements.
- Ensure that the environmental management system achieves its intended outcomes.
- Direct and support persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience; or 10+ years of equivalent manufacturing experience in lieu of degree.
- 3–5 years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of applicable safety standards (OSHA) and quality management systems (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material behavior, and inspection methods applicable to stamping and assembly operations.

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Working knowledge of manufacturing automation and control systems, including PLC-based equipment and industrial automation.
- Experience with process programming, setup, and optimization for manufacturing equipment, including presses, assembly systems, and robotics.
- Familiarity with CAD tools, simulation software, and technical documentation used in manufacturing engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent productivity tools.
- Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, quality and manufacturing systems (ERP, QMS, SPC, and data analysis tools).
- Ability to quickly learn new software platforms and data management systems to support manufacturing and reporting needs.
