POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior EHS Specialist will support compliance, employee engagement, and vision of employee safety, environmental stewardship, and health at Toledo Tool and Die’s Maumee facility. This role will work directly with the EHS manager and site management to implement sustainable practices that ensure employee safety and compliance. The candidate is knowledgeable within OSHA, EPA, and ANSI standards with the ability to clearly communicate and relate to all employees within the organization. They have leadership skills to drive continuous improvement within the programs and drive completion of multiple projects and tasks at hand.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manage the collection of daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and reporting systems.
Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees and suggesting risk mitigation strategies through the Job Safety Analysis process.
Recommend and support implementation of appropriate risk mitigation ideas and programs, including ergonomics.
Train and assist others (managers, employees, etc.) to complete their safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, follow safety rules, etc.).
Conduct appropriate inspections and audits and ensure corrective actions are monitored and documented.
Enforce compliance with EHS programs at designated facilities
Complete, document, and submit required EHS monthly permit related information for compliance.
Conduct EHS training as needed; includes development of onsite resources for specific program elements.
Respond to and investigate events including injuries and major incidents. Support near-miss events. Drive closure of effective corrective/preventive actions as assigned and organize site resource responsibility where applicable
Provide managers with regulatory information and direction to ensure compliance with external/internal audits and Federal, State, Local EHS regulations.
Conduct environmental compliance site audits of non-hazardous waste, NPDES, as assigned.
Prepare environmental compliance reports and permits.
Respond to emergency situations when they arise. This includes off-hours call-ins based on severity.
Ability to multi-task and support other TTD locations for projects.
Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope/position. Examples include but not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non-compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.
Assumes additional duties as assigned, which may fall outside the primary scope of the role.
ISO / ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental processes and requirements applicable to their role.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
5+ years EHS industry experience preferred.
Minimum 4-year degree in Environmental Health/Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or Environmental Management, or related field.
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and work well with others in order to manage projects, meetings.
Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence people and drive change.
Exceptional organizational skills with a high consideration to detail.
Must possess time management skills and have the ability to meet deadlines.
Works well independently and in a group environment.
Has the ability to deliver internal training effectively.
Has critical thinking and problem-solving skills but is able to understand the departments overall objectives.
Must be able to be entrusted with confidential information.
