1. System Architecture

Develop complete system architecture for:

Solar PV systems
Grid-connected solar systems
Hybrid solar + battery systems
Residential energy storage systems
Commercial & industrial BESS
Solar + BESS + grid systems
Backup power systems
EV charging + solar + storage systems

Define system voltage, current, power, energy and communication architecture.
Develop system block diagrams and functional architectures.
Define interfaces between PV modules, inverter, battery, BMS, EMS, grid and loads.

2. Solar PV System Design

Design PV systems from module level to complete system level.
Perform:

String sizing
DC/AC ratio calculations
MPPT configuration
Voltage/current calculations
Cable sizing
Protection selection
Earthing and SPD design
System efficiency calculations

Develop designs for residential, C&I, utility and specialized applications.
Evaluate module, inverter and BOS compatibility.

3. Inverter System Design

Work with engineering teams to develop:

On-grid/grid-tied inverters
Hybrid inverters
Off-grid inverters
Battery PCS
Bidirectional converters
DC-DC converters
AC-DC/DC-AC power conversion systems

Responsibilities include:

Define electrical architecture.
Select power semiconductors and major components.
Develop power-flow architecture.
Define MPPT and power-conversion requirements.
Define protection architecture.
Support control strategy development.
Work with firmware/control engineers on functional requirements.
Support thermal and reliability design.

4. BESS System Design

Design BESS solutions from 1 kWh to 1 MWh+.

Responsibilities include:

Battery pack architecture
Cell selection
Module and rack architecture
Series/parallel configuration
Voltage and capacity calculations
BMS architecture
PCS selection/integration
EMS integration
DC protection
AC protection
Thermal management
Fire and safety architecture
Communication architecture
Containerized BESS architecture

Develop complete system-level designs for:

Cell → Module → Pack → Rack → BESS → PCS → EMS →Grid/Load

5. Battery & BMS Engineering

Define battery chemistry and cell requirements.
Calculate usable and nominal energy.
Define C-rate requirements.
Calculate charge/discharge current.
Work with BMS engineers on:

SOC
SOH
Cell balancing
Over-voltage protection
Under-voltage protection
Over-current protection
Over-temperature protection
Short-circuit protection

Define BMS communication requirements with inverter/PCS and EMS.

6. Thermal Engineering

Perform thermal calculations for:

Inverters
Battery packs
BESS racks
Power electronics

Define cooling architecture.
Work with mechanical engineers on:

Air cooling
Liquid cooling
Heat sinks
Fans
HVAC
Thermal interface materials

Identify thermal hotspots and develop mitigation plans.

7. Electrical Protection & Safety

Develop system protection architecture including:

Fuse
MCB/MCCB
DC isolator
Contactor
Relay
SPD
Pre-charge circuit
Ground fault protection
Over-voltage protection
Over-current protection
Short-circuit protection
Emergency shutdown

Ensure designs consider applicable Indian andinternational standards.

8. System Simulation & Calculations

Perform engineering calculations and simulations for:

Power flow
Voltage/current
Efficiency
Thermal performance
Battery sizing
PV generation
Energy yield
Load profile
Battery degradation
Backup duration
Peak shaving
Energy arbitrage
Solar self-consumption
Grid interaction

Use appropriate engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink,PSpice/LTspice, ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent tools,depending on the role.

9. Product Development Support

Work closely with:

R&D
NPD
Firmware
Electronics
Mechanical
Manufacturing
Quality
Procurement
Testing
Service
Sales

to take products from:

Requirement → Architecture → Design → Prototype→ Testing → Certification → Production → Field Deployment

Requirements

Essential:

B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering
Electronics & Communication Engineering
Power Electronics
Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Preferred:

M.Tech in Power Electronics / Electrical Engineering
Experience in renewable energy or energy storage
